The legacy of Tuscan textile art

Quality, timeless beauty, and living tradition — from the heart of Tuscany

The name Busatti stands for exceptional quality, timeless elegance, and a true love for craftsmanship. A family business that has quite literally woven itself into the history of Tuscany — while its fabrics today grace the most contemporary homes of the 21st century.

Founded in 1842, Busatti’s mission has remained unchanged for nearly two centuries: to share the beauty of Tuscany, its artisanal traditions, and its unique textile artistry with the world. Now led by the eighth generation of the family, Busatti is present on five continents — and it was the Toscaneria who first introduced it to Hungary.

“We are like a cypress tree, whose roots reach deep into the earth, while its branches stretch towards the sky.” (Busatti)

Anghiari – Where Weaving Becomes Art

The birthplace of Busatti textiles is Anghiari, one of the most charming villages in Tuscany. In this centuries-old workshop, traditional Tuscan cotton fabrics and linens are created with exceptional skill and dedication, passed down from generation to generation.

Every step of the process — from dyeing the yarn to the final stitch — follows ancient traditions, using only natural materials. The raw fibres are treated with olive oil, then dyed thread by thread in Busatti’s iconic colours. This is what gives the fabrics their truly living character — after a few washes, they reveal their real beauty, natural texture, and extraordinary durability.

Every pattern and hand embroidery tells its own story — crafted with care, attention, and passion to decorate the most beautiful homes for generations.

Textile Art Inspired by Nature

Busatti fabrics draw inspiration from the colours and atmosphere of the Tuscan landscape. The finesse of natural fibres, the rich palette of colours, and the blend of traditional and modern patterns make them truly exceptional.

As Frances Mayes writes in Bringing Tuscany Home:

“To this day, the company Busatti in Anghiari has produced traditional Tuscan cotton fabric and calico. The light yellow paint is obtained from genista, or French broom in the spring and onion in the winter. To this day they have been making the same orange, brown and red shawls that the peasants (contadini) used to tie around themselves to bring the food in them to the land. Some of their fabrics were fashioned to look like Virgin Mary’s dress on paintings or coat of arms. For generations, there have been Busatti waffle weave towels in the bathroom, and classic white woven Busatti blankets covers on the beds in Vagli. In the Busatti factory, the grey rough woven wool vests are still produced that were most certainly worn once by the ploughmen in Vagli. The Busatti family has been working with linen, striped cotton fabric and thick blankets since Napoleon first marched by here. Their textiles belong to the Tuscan land.”

Special Collaborations — Exclusive Busatti Collections

The name Busatti is not only synonymous with craftsmanship in Tuscany but worldwide. Their unique fabrics are born from a fusion of tradition, quality, and creativity — often inspired by special collaborations.

The workshop has partnered with world-famous brands like Prada and Chopard, proving that Tuscan textile art is just as captivating in contemporary settings.

Exclusive Collections for Hungary

The collaboration between Toscaneria and Busatti continues this special tradition — creating unique collections that bring together Tuscan craftsmanship with Hungarian heritage and culture.

So far, three exclusive collections have been born — each with its own story and character:

Busatti Zwack Unicum: A bespoke textile collection created in honour of the Zwack family — an elegant meeting of Hungarian heritage and Tuscan craftsmanship.

Busatti Furmint: Inspired by the Tokaj wine region, this collection reflects the character of the Furmint grape and the natural beauty of the landscape.

Busatti Sisi: A special collection created for the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, evoking refined elegance and a sense of historical atmosphere.

The Essence of Tuscany in a Bottle

Tuscan atmosphere, natural elegance — captured in every drop. The Busatti home fragrances bring the most beautiful scent memories of the Tuscan landscape into your home or sophisticated interior. Refined fragrance compositions where the freshness of Mediterranean gardens, the depth of Tuscan pine forests, and the pure harmony of blooming landscapes meet.

Nine unique scents — nine moods from Tuscany. Each home fragrance evokes a different moment: from the floral gardens of summer to the refreshing sea breeze, the sun-ripened grapes, or the calming world of cedar groves.

Crafted to perfection by master perfumers, Busatti fragrances in Hungary are available exclusively at Le Parfum — Zsolt Zólyomi Luxury Perfumery, ensuring they are in the very best hands.

“I discovered the Busatti brand years ago in Florence, and I have admired it ever since. Its story dates back almost as far as that of Hungary’s Zwack Unicum. I became a loyal customer — choosing furnishing fabrics, kitchen textiles, or beautiful linens, which I later found the perfect place and purpose for in my home.”
(Zsolt Zólyomi, Márkamonitor Interview, 2020)

“My latest favourite is the Italian brand Busatti, which has been creating textiles since 1842. They now also offer home fragrances, including a scent enriched with Tuscan red grape must extract — but their collection also includes peach blossom, sea breeze, and the characteristic cedar and pine scents of the Tuscan landscape.”
(Zsolt Zólyomi, Index Interview, 2021)
