Masterpieces of Tuscan chocolate art

Premium Handcrafted Chocolates from Tuscany – Flavour, Elegance, Creativity

La Molina is one of the defining workshops of Tuscan artisanal chocolate making. Every day in the Quarrata workshop, chocolate creations are crafted with exceptional attention to quality and aesthetic refinement. La Molina’s philosophy is built on the harmony of taste, excellence, and creativity – each chocolate tells this story.

Artistic Packaging – A Unique Story

The roots of the brand trace back to a remarkable story: it pays tribute to a woman whose real name is unknown, remembered only by her nickname – La Molina. According to tradition, she was the personal chocolatier of Maria Theresa, wife of Louis XIV, and her nickname referred to the ‘molinillo’, the tool used to prepare hot chocolate.

La Molina’s “with the eyes and the mouth” philosophy defines its entire creative process. This approach is also reflected in the packaging, designed by Tuscan artist Riccardo Fattori. His work creates a bridge between tradition and contemporary design, allowing La Molina chocolates to offer not only a taste experience but a visual one as well. The chocolate factory building itself is also distinctive: from a distance, it resembles a giant praline, further reinforcing the unique world of La Molina.

A Unique Taste Experience – From Natural Ingredients

La Molina chocolates are made from the highest quality ingredients. The manufactory has developed processing and storage methods that allow the use of natural and fresh ingredients, while respecting their seasonality. As a result, flavour development is not based on artificial aromas, but on the intrinsic character of the ingredients themselves.

Through caramelisation, flavours are encapsulated in crisp crystals, which are then released during tasting as they dissolve on the palate. Through a slow infusion process, spices and herbs gradually release their aromas into the chocolate, allowing them to be appreciated even before the first bite. Fresh fruits are dried or candied, while nuts are roasted either in-house or by carefully selected partners, with particular attention to the quality of the ingredients.
