1999

Our story dates from here. Our story with each other, and our story with Tuscany, as well. Have you seen Il ciclone, the Italian film where the peaceful life of a calm Tuscan village is sawn off by beautiful flamenco dancers? We have, the same day in the same cinema hall but not next to each other. When we were sitting down in the hall of the Bem cinema, we didn’t suspect that Leonardo Pieraccioni will direct our life, too. Months later when Gergő entered my lodgings – which happened to be owned by his family – he saw the Il ciclone scene pinned over my bed and that was the moment that brought a broad smile to both our faces and sent our heart pounding. Only several weeks later we travelled together on board the small Fiat – but not yet to Tuscany.

2005

A dream we had been nursing for five years, came true, when we set off to San Gimignano at a beautiful dawn in June. The air was glowing – also because there was no air conditioning in the car – but especially because that was our first trip to sunlit Tuscany. By the time we arrived the sun had already set, the lights of the agriturismos hiding behind the hills were flickering, and Mario’s cypress-spotted property that also became our property for a week – and an extra day – lay before us. During our first Tuscan trip we discovered the locations of Il ciclone: Poppi, Stia, Laterina, Florence. Caught up in one scene after the other, we relived the first moments of our love, too. We literally sat down at the bar of our favourite film. We had never drunk such delicious coffee as we had on that sweet summer day on the main square of Stia. From then on, no year could pass without us returning there, we irrevocably fell in love with Tuscany.

2010

We reach yet another milestone. We get married. What could have been a better place for us to say ‘I do’ than picturesque Pienza? We celebrated the most beautiful day of our life in the company of our Tuscan friends, speaking Italian imperfectly but loving each other and the place that connected us for life with perfect enthusiasm.Years passed, but the spell of Tuscany isn’t broken, it has presented a different face for us each time for 16 years. We always find something new to admire and always miss something beautiful that gives us a reason to return.

2019

Toscaneria opens its virtual doors. Our slogan “With love from Tuscany” isn’t an accident – it was written by life, our lives. We have brought you the most excellent Tuscan handicraft products – please, welcome them! Busatti, Idea Toscana, La Molina, Pure Stagioni – Benvenuti in Ungheria!
