Busatti – timeless Tuscan textile culture

Founded in 1842 in Anghiari, in the heart of Tuscany, the Busatti manufactory has preserved the art and craftsmanship of weaving for generations. Made from natural fibres, its textiles bring together tradition, quality and a contemporary sensibility.

Anghiari – the art of weaving

Busatti textiles are born in Anghiari, one of Tuscany’s most charming historic villages. Here, the nearly 200-year-old manufactory produces traditional Tuscan cotton fabrics and linens with artisanal care. Every step of the process—from yarn dyeing to the final stitch—is rooted in centuries-old traditions and natural materials. This is what gives the fabrics their distinctive character: after a few washes, they reveal their true beauty and natural structure. 

Textile art – inspired by nature

Busatti fabrics draw their inspiration from the colours and atmosphere of the Tuscan landscape. As Frances Mayes writes in Bringing Tuscany Home:

“The Busatti company in Anghiari still produces traditional Tuscan cotton fabrics and linens. The pale yellow dye comes from ginestra—broom flowers—in spring, and from red onions in winter. They continue to make the same orange, brown and red cloths that farmers once used to carry food into the fields. Some of their fabrics are inspired by garments seen in paintings of the Virgin Mary or by heraldic shields. In Vaglie, Busatti’s signature bee-pattern towels hang in bathrooms, and classic white woven bedspreads cover the beds. The factory still produces the coarse grey wool undergarments that farmers in the region once wore. The Busatti family has been working with linen, striped cotton fabrics and heavy blankets since the time Napoleon first passed through the area. Their textiles belong to the Tuscan landscape.”

Busatti – collaborations and collections

Busatti’s textile culture, passed down through generations, lives on beyond Tuscany through a number of special collaborations. The manufactory has also worked with international brands such as Prada and Chopard, carrying its traditional textile culture forward in contemporary forms.

Together with the Busatti manufactory, we create bespoke textile collections connected to Hungarian brands, places and stories. Each collection is developed around its own concept and created through a collaborative design process.

A bespoke textile and collection that brings together the distinctive world of the Unicum brand and Busatti’s Tuscan textile culture.

Busatti Furmint
A collection inspired by the Tokaj wine region and the motif of the Furmint grape, bringing together the character of Tokaj-Hegyalja and Busatti’s craftsmanship.

Busatti Sisi
A bespoke textile created for the Royal Palace of Gödöllő, inspired by historical motifs connected to Empress Elisabeth and the Palace.

Busatti Matyó

A collection created together with the Museum of Ethnography, bringing together the motifs of a 1939 Matyó apron preserved in the Museum’s collection and Busatti’s multigenerational weaving expertise.

Busatti Balaton

A collection inspired by the distinctive landscape and cultural motifs of the Balaton Uplands, connecting the character of the Hungarian landscape with Busatti’s Tuscan craftsmanship. One of its motifs was created in honour of the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany.

Busatti interior fragrances evoke the scent memories of the Tuscan landscape in homes and elegant interiors. These sophisticated compositions bring together the freshness of Mediterranean gardens, the depth of Tuscan pine forests and the pure harmony of the landscape in bloom. Each interior fragrance evokes a distinct moment—from summer gardens in bloom to the freshness of a seaside breeze, from sun-ripened grapes to the calming presence of cedar groves.

Busatti fragrances have been shaped by the careful work of accomplished Tuscan perfumers. In Hungary, we entrusted their presentation to Zsolt Zólyomi, one of the country’s best-known and most respected perfumers.
